A photograph of "Stella Turpin." The Turpin family of Dicks Creek, near Dillsboro, North Carolina, is featured in Kephart's album. In his "Index to Diary," Kephart has a note about "Stella Turpin peddling buttermilk." Kephart also comments in a journal that "Stella Turpin carried two gallons of buttermilk four or five miles to hotel at Dillsboro, sold it for 20??, and walked back, keeping up this trade all summer, every other day." This photograph is featured on Album page 7 under the heading "Tuckaseegee River."
