Typed copy of an act from the state records of North Carolina. Washington County, North Carolina, was located in present day Tennessee. Kephart includes typed notes in red ink that this is the earliest reference to the name Great Iron Mountain that he had located to that date (April 23, 1930). He also includes notes about the name ''Smoky Mountain.''
