The Album caption reads simply "Widow Davis." The caption on the reverse of the picture is more detailed and notes: 'Widow Davis' cabin on Dick Creek near Dillsboro. Fair sample of all the cabins in these mts., but better chimney than common. No windows. Spinning wheel & loom are still worked here, although within 2 miles of a RR town."" This picture appeared in "Our Southern Highlanders" (1921 ed., p. 240) and in Kephart's series "The Southern Highlander" (part IV, "The Land of do Without," "Outing Magazine," March 1913, p. 713) as "An Average Mountain Cabin." This photograph is on Album page 3 with the heading "Tuckaseegee River."
