Description
The Album caption for the Granville Calhoun store in Medlin, North Carolina, states simply, "(Same) Bear skins and Summer Sled." The caption on the reverse of the picture elaborates by noting that this is, "Granville Calhoun's store, Medlin. The ox sled carried my trunk. Few mountaineers have any other conveyance, summer or winter. Skins are bear, wildcat, coon, mink, rattlesnake." This photograph is on album page 13 with the heading "Great Smoky Mountains" (on other pages abbreviated "Great Smoky Mts.").
