In a letter to Horace Kephart on December 27, 1915, David T. Abercrombie explains their snake bite kit cannot be purchased from his company because new laws require a doctor’s prescription to buy poison and a pharmacist to distribute the drugs the kit contains, including strychnine. If Kephart wishes to purchase the kit, Mr. Abercrombie recommends sending a doctor’s prescription and a pharmacist from Burroughs-Wellcome will send the kit to him.
