Mrs. Dan K. Moore (Jeanelle Coulter Moore) was on the Board of Trustees of Western Carolina University. Daniel Killian Moore (April 2, 1906–September 7, 1986) was the 66th governor of the state of North Carolina from 1965 to 1969. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, he earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Carolina and afterward practiced law in Sylva, North Carolina. In his lifetime he served a term in the North Carolina House of Representatives in 1941, served as a North Carolina Superior Court judge from 1948-1958, served as the governor of North Carolina, and was appointed to the North Carolina Supreme Court serving from 1969-1978.
