Description

The McKee Laboratory School was built during the Western Carolina building boom of the 1930s. New buildings included McKee, Hoey, Breese, Graham and a new Madison Hall. McKee was named for Gertrude Dills McKee, the first woman to be elected to the state senate and a two-term member of the college board of trustees. The building housed the Cullowhee grade school and served as the practice teaching facility for Western's students.
