Description

Reid Gymnasium was opened in 1956 and named for Paul A. Ried, Western's fifth president. It seated 2,600 until expanded in 1965 to seat 4,000. The copy on the back of the postcard reads, "The Paul A. Reid Health and Physical Education Building, Western Carolina College, Cullowhee, N.C. Right wing houses swimming pool and bowling alleys, tennis courts adjoining. W.C.C. is a four-year state college, co-educational, supported by the State of North Carolina; liberal arts, teacher education, master of arts degrees. Bill Kobert
