This typed recollection was written by Katerine Brown Wells in Autumn of 1982 and was dedicated to her children and grandchilden. It covers the first ten years of her life growing up in Cullowhee, NC. Born on February 14, 1921 in Jackson County, Katherine and her family lived Sylva. Her parents moved to Sylva from Roanoke, Virginia and her father worked at Blackwood Lumber in East La Porte and moved the family to Cullowhee. Katherine goes on to tell stories of her childhood, talk about their neighbors, and describe life in Cullowhee in the 1930s.
