This undated photograph taken by W. Newton Turner (1910-1995) shows the first story of the overlook at the Fontana Dam Visitors Center. Little Shuckstack and Shuckstack Mountain can be seen in the background. Turner began teaching as an assistant professor of geology and geography in 1937 and filled a variety of roles before retiring on December 29, 1971 as Vice President of Western Carolina University.
