This 1941 photograph by W. Newton Turner (1910-1995) shows majorettes next to Breese Gymnasium. Costumes were made by Addie Beam, faculty, and majorettes. Turner began teaching as an assistant professor of geology and geography in 1937 and filled a variety of roles before retiring on December 29, 1971 as Vice President of Western Carolina University.
