This undated photograph by W. Newton Turner (1910-1995) shows the 1939-1940 Western Carolina Teachers College Band (Fish band) directed by Revis Frye. Joe Hedden is pointed out on the photograph. Turner began teaching as an assistant professor of geology and geography in 1937 and filled a variety of roles before retiring on December 29, 1971 as Vice President of Western Carolina University.
