Louise Gaston Colbert is interviewed by Lorraine Crittenden on August 11, 1986 as a part of the Western North Carolina Tomorrow Black Oral History Project. Born in 1912, Colbert talks about attending school in Murphy through 8th grade, marrying early and doing domestic work. She discusses her husband and sons experience in the Armed Forces and sending two of her children to Allen School in Asheville. She also tells about a personal encounter related to the Civil Rights Movement.
