Description
Kat Gray, stage name Katarina Eclipse, is interviewed by Sarah Steiner as a part of the Gender and Sexuality Oral History project. Eclipse is a transgender drag queen. She relates the experience she had coming out in high school which resulted being put in a psych ward at the insistence of extended family. She talks about her first time performing, performing in general, her drag family, her transition to female, and the role she plays as a listener and guide in helping others navigate the world of drag. Eclipse performs mainly at Scandals, but also regularly at XYZ in Knoxville. She has performed at The Paper Mill Lounge and Theatre in Sylva and LEAF Festival in Black Mountain. She is an advocate for accepting all types of drag performers, allowing drag to be an exaggerated form of yourself, whoever that may be.
