Description

Tom Oren is interviewed by a Smoky Mountain High School student as a part of Mountain People, Mountain Lives: A Student Led Oral History Project. Born in 1947, Oren details his experience as a conscientious objector and his alternative two-year service in Louisville, Kentucky working with kids with disabilities which led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Special Education. He talks about working at Western Carolina University for the past 20 years and his experiences with the Jamaica programs.
