Description
Early postcards illustrated life and scenery in western North Carolina. This print was made from an original photograph by Herbert W. Pelton (1879-1961), a photographer active in Asheville in the 1910s, 1920s, and 1930s. Pelton produced landscapes of the region including panoramic shots, a rather rare format at the time. He partnered with photographer George Masa to operate their Photo-Craft Shop in the 1920s but, within a decade, moved to Washington, D.C.
