Description
Edwin Brown was listed as a bookstore manager for the printers Hackney & Moale in the 1907-1908 Asheville City Directory. A few years later, he was working for himself, having founded the Brown Book Company. Along with numerous postcards produced in the first decades of the 20th century, in 1909, Brown Book Company published the “Brownie Pocket Map of Asheville, North Carolina.” By 1912, the company was located on Chestnut Street.
