Description

Early postcards illustrating life and scenery in western North Carolina were published by several companies in and around the region. By the 1890s, rail travel was promoted as a way to visit the area. The legend on the reverse of this card reads, “The rail road through the ‘Land of the Sky’ continually winds its way through numerous cuts, and around countless mountain sides.”
