Description

This undated photograph shows the Mead Corporation which opened a plant producing paper for cardboard boxes just east of downtown Sylva in 1928. Mead expanded in 1955 and closed in 1974 due to environmental concerns. Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company, a recycle-based operation, opened in 1995 in the same location.
