Description
Carolina Wood Products Co. plant on Weaverville Road in Woodfin, NC. The building originally housed the American Furniture Manufacturing Company plant, which was owned by Frank Sheridan Kennett, Sr. Kennett came to Asheville from Franklin, Ohio and built the plant on the French Broad River in 1911. The plant suffered damage during the flood of 1916, leading Kennett to sell the property. The new owners restored the factory and opened Carolina Wood Products Co in 1918. This photograph features additional buildings and roof modifications that had not existed with the original construction. The National Casket Company plant lies just south of the photograph along the French Broad River.
