Description

This July 4, 1917 photograph shows, on the left, Nathan Eugene Hyatt (1897-1937) and his brother, likely Charles Montgomery Hyatt (1899-1976). On the back of the photograph is written Sallville, GA (possibly Snellville, GA). Nathan and Charles were born to Ransom Lee Hyatt (1862-1947) and his first wife Dora Cooper Hyatt (1872-1907). They grew up on Shoal Creek Road in what was Qualla and is now Whittier. Nathan married Clara Ashe (1902-1970) and by 1930 had moved to Snohomish County, Washington with their four children where he worked for the railroad. Charles married Sallie Mae Wiggins (1905-2005) and they lived in Asheville.
