Amy introduces the show with stories of quilters and seamstresses, and information about the upcoming Patchwork Fabric Festival. Doreyl talks to Patricia Purdy of Tuckasegee about the history of the red-heel sock monkey doll. Neal Hearn interviews Amy about growing up in the mountains, the purpose of Catch the Spirit of Appalachia, and how Stories of Mountain Folk began. Music is provided by Jo Northup and Richard Birt of Asheville with “Dusty Dreams Waltz.”
