Description
Amy’s story is “Mountain Sisters Come Home,” where she gives the background of how the storytelling team of the “Ammons Sisters” came about. (“Sister” by J. Robin Whitley from Sylva follows the segment.) On Creative Corner, Doreyl’s guest is Rick Hills from Waynesville, a local visual artist who discusses the trouble of being an artist and selling artwork in today’s economy. (“Unfinished Stories” by Jon Zachary from Cashiers concludes the segment.) Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Dawn Arneach from Cherokee, who shares stories of how it was to grow up with storytelling father, Lloyd Arneach. (Eddie Bushyhead from Cherokee sings “The Beloved Woman’s Song” in Cherokee to close the segment.) On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria interviews Bishop Adam West, Jr., pastor of God’s Holy Tabernacle, who talks about his childhood in Cowee. (“When I Die, I’ll Live Again” by Jim Greer follows the interview.) Judy’s guest on Down Another Road is once again Vernon “Dusty” Rhodes from Asheville, who talks about the careers he had during his lifetime and growing up in the western North Carolina mountains. (“Take Me Out to the Ballgame” by the Hit Crew Kids concludes the segment.) The closing song is “Shortnin’ Bread” by Jacob Jones from Sylva.
