Description
The show begins with Amy’s story “Biscuits, Gravy and Tortillas,” in which she shares her memories of her mother’s homemade biscuits and gravy and the tortillas her mother-in-law made. “Daydream Believer” accompanies the story. On Creative Corner, Doreyl continues her conversation with Mary Jo Hooper Cobb, who tells stories this week about her great-grandmother, Dorcas Ingabo Wood Queen, and her life in Little Canada. “We Shall Rise” by the Butterpats follows the interview. Amy once again hosts Robena Mehaffey Russell on Stories of Mountain Folk. Robena shares more memories of growing up on a tobacco farm in Maggie Valley. The interview is followed by “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow,” by Hazel Dickens. On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria talks with storyteller Janice Inabinett of Bryson City, who talks about her early education in Jackson and Swain Counties. Judy continues her talk with Carol Rifkin on Down Another Road. Carol discusses her interest in Appalachian fiddle music and the how it has been preserved and passed down over time. “Staten Island Hornpipe,” by Paul’s Creek Band with Carol Rifkin on fiddle, follows the interview. “Uncle Moe” by Southern Hue wraps up the show.
