Description
Amy begins the show with the fourth part of the play "Samantha Bumgarner and the History of Mountain String Music", which was produced in 2001 by CSA and the 4th grade students of Jackson County. “The Old Guitar” accompanies the reading. Doreyl’s guest on Creative Corner is Charles Schoen, who has just written Charlie Goes to School, the first in a series of picture books for children with special needs. The character of Charlie is based on his son, and he talks about this book and others that he plans to write. “Children Sing” by the Butterpats follows the interview. On Stories of Mountain Folk, Amy talks with Randy Hooper, the co-owner of Bryson’s Farm Supply. He talks about growing up and living in Sylva. The interview is followed by “There’s a Star” by Terry Edwards. On This Is My Home, Joe reads Dorothy Allison Moore’s story “Christmas Time,” relating her memories of celebrating Christmas in Webster. “Kodak 1955” by the Company Store follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy continues her conversation with Gail Clawson of Dick’s Creek, who shares some of her memories of the role music played in her family when she was younger. The interview is followed by “In the Pines” by the Blue Ridge Rounders, and the show concludes with “One More Day” by the Cockman Family.
