Description

Amy begins the show with her story “He Came Riding Up on a Horse,” which tells of how her mother and father met. The story is accompanied by “Almost Home” by Randy Petersen and followed by “Don’t Fence Me In” by Roy Rogers. On Creative Corner, Doreyl talks with “Uncle” Ted White, a musician from Buncombe County who talks about his band, Whitewater Bluegrass Co., and his experiences learning and playing traditional music in western North Carolina. “I Ain’t Broke but I’m Badly Bent” by the Whitewater Bluegrass Co. follows the interview. On Down Another Road, Judy talks once again with James Wike of Cullowhee. James shares some memories of growing up on his family’s farm and his career in chemistry at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The interview is followed by “Hot Cabbage” by Vance Trull. To close the show, Amy leads a round table discussion with Neal Hearn, Doreyl, and Judy about how Stories of Mountain Folk is produced. They discuss their vision for the show and the value they see in their work. The discussion is followed by “The Wee Lasse of the Morning” by Glenn Kastrinos, and the show concludes with “Running Wolf” by Keith Shuler.
