Boyce Dietz is interviewed by a Smoky Mountain High School student as a part of Mountain People, Mountain Lives: A Student Led Oral History Project. Dietz talks about growing up in Jackson County as the oldest of five kids. He discusses playing football for Sylva Webster and later coaching there and at Swain County High School. He shares his feelings about being inducted into multiple Halls of Fame, having a football field named after him, and his philosophy on coaching. He talks about why he became involved in politics and his time as Jackson County Commissioner. He also shares his knowledge on integration in Jackson County.
