Lynn Hotaling is interviewed by a Smoky Mountain High School student as a part of Mountain People, Mountain Lives: A Student Led Oral History Project. Hotaling moved to Jackson County in 1970 to attend Western Carolina University. She shares stories and thoughts about her time at Western, working at various jobs including a Christmas tree farm, and talks about how she ended up working for the Sylva Herald. She discusses her various roles at the newspaper and her experience writing the Arcadia Press books, Sylva and Jackson County.
