Description

In this letter of March 24, 1865, Henry Marshall Misemer (1832-1865) writes his "Dear wife," Martha Misemer, from Vicksburg, Mississippi. He explains that he has not written in 6 months because he was in Cahaba prison in Alabama. He assures her that he is safe and well in a parole camp. He says they may get a furlough, but he prefers to not come home until he is done and can stay for good. He lets her know where she can send a letter to him as they have no regiment numbers or name of state while they are in parole camp.
