Description

A girl, identified as Lelia Sexton Curto, can be seen alongside her pet deer named Bessie. They are standing in a fenced-in field while several buildings, two of which are identified as the Hiram King house and barn, and mountains are visible in the background. This picture was taken by Clifford Hall, a U.S. Government forester, around 1913. Leila's father, Henry Sexton, was a forester for the Vanderbilt family and later became the first U.S. Ranger in Pisgah Forest.
