This 1964 Swain County High School Senior class photograph was taken in front of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. The flag is flying at half-staff. Each year from as early as 1953 until about 2015, Swain County seniors took a trip from Bryson City, North Carolina to the District of Columbia, with high school teachers as their chaperones. Until 1970 the trip was made by a combination of bus and train via Southern Railway. Starting in 1971 a bus was taken the entire way. All names are read left to right.
