Description
This 1973 Swain County High School senior class photograph was taken in front of the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. The panoramic photograph, taken by Central Photograph Company, includes their signature style, a “runner” who appears in the image twice. Each year from as early as 1953 until about 2015, Swain County seniors took a trip from Bryson City, North Carolina to the District of Columbia with high school teachers as their chaperones. Until 1970 the trip was made by a combination of bus and train via Southern Railway. Starting in 1971 a bus was taken the entire way.
