Drag queen Ivanna Cookie is wearing a large white robe during a performance on the Bridge Park stage in downtown Sylva, North Carolina. Two people have the robe stretched out on either side of her while someone is spray painting in red “Protect Queer Youth.” She is participating in the drag show that took place during the day long Sylva Pride Festival. Sylva Pride was founded in 2021 and hosted its second annual Pride Festival September 10, 2022. Along with the drag show, the festival included a Pride Parade, live music, T-shirt printing, a Listening Booth, and many local vendors. Sylva Pride is dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the experiences of our LGBTQ community throughout western North Carolina.
