Description

This image shows the Vollmer Vineyard near Tryon, North Carolina. Written on the reverse is “The Vineyard at Tryon, North Carolina in summer, 1941.” Ernst Gotthelf Vollmer (1884-1957) immigrated to the United States in 1924 with his wife, Louisa Emma Rebmond, and child, Johannes Rebmond Vollmer. After being sponsored by a vineyardist in Columbus County, Vollmer bought and developed six acres into a successful vineyard.
