Natalie Newman is interviewed by Kate Macaulay on May 25, 2022 as part of Mountain People, Mountain Lives: A Student Led Oral History Project. Newman discusses operating a business in downtown Sylva, North Carolina, and how Western Carolina University prepared her. She describes her experience serving as an elected official on the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Sylva, what issues the Board faced, what she hopes to accomplish, and what she envisions for the future of Sylva. Newman also explains how COVID-19 affected her work with both her business and the Board.
