In this letter of June 2, 1945, Laura Kephart replies to her son Leonard Kephart and is happy to hear that his daughter Barbara Ann will be getting married to Jack. She says his news balanced out Pauline’s, her daughter-in-law, who wrote with news that her son Roy will have to be inducted June 6, unless he can get deferred to let him graduate high school where he is top in his class. She tells him about Laura’s husband Karl, who is overworked with the potato planting and not feeling well, and mentions that she and some other ladies would like to have chickens.
