Description
Waters of the Tuckasegee River are rapidly rising behind the Amoco gas station and Neighbor’s Restaurant on Highway 19 in Bryson City. A man is standing on the shore behind Neighbor’s, looking at the water. This photo is from the Tuckaseigee Soil & Water Conservation District, which was formed in western North Carolina in 1957 and became the Swain Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) in 1982. The Swain SWCD’s mission is to provide for a quality environment and higher standard of living while protecting natural resources. The Swain SWCD photographs capture various SWCD projects throughout Swain, Jackson, Graham, Haywood, and surrounding counties in western North Carolina.
