Description
Brasstown Carver Hal McClure teaching a carving class at John C. Campbell Folk School, c. 1980. George Hal McClure (1950-2012) was the son of Brasstown Carver Sue McClure. He began carving professionally in the late 1970s and soon began teaching classes and demonstrating at craft fairs. Hal moved to Haywood County, NC, in the later years of his life and ran a business called McClure's Crafts.
