Looking across Everett Street is the Presbyterian Church and manse/parsonage as seen from north of the John Dorsey home. In the right foreground Toot Hollow Branch flows under sidewalk to the opposite side of the street. An automobile is parked in front of the church with a 1925 license plate. A boy rides a bicycle down the street. B 468 is written on the negative. The photographer, “Doc” Kelly Bennett (1890-1974), was a prominent pharmacist in Swain County, NC. He participated in numerous other initiatives and organizations. Known as the “Apostle of the Smokies,” Bennett was an instrumental figure in the movement to create the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
