Description

A view of two horses, one with a rider, fording a river during the Biltmore Forest Festival. A group of people are waiting for them on the opposite bank. The image appears to have been taken from the wooden ferry or ferry dock. The Biltmore Forest Festival was held on the Biltmore Estate in 1908 and hosted by Dr. Carl Alwin Schenck, forester and founder of the Biltmore Forest School. Dr. Schenck invited foresters, industry professionals, and any interested lay persons from across the South to attend the festivities.
