Description

Two workers using hand tools are shaping wood to be used in the reconstruction of the Biltmore Forest School in Pink Beds. Piles of rocks and lumber can be seen around the work site. The plaque that is affixed to a rock in the foreground was dedicated by the Alumni of the Biltmore Forest School in the early 1950s. Reconstruction of the school's buildings began in 1967 and the site was designated as "The Cradle of American Forestry" by Congress in 1968. In 1974, the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
