Description

This image depicts a tour given at the Biltmore Forest Festival, which was held on the Biltmore Estate in 1908 and hosted by Dr. Carl Alwin Schenck, forester and founder of the Biltmore Forest School. Dr. Schenck invited foresters, industry professionals, and any interested lay persons from across the South to attend the festivities. In this image, a group of spectators gather around a sign with the number "47" in a heavily forested area. Two carriages and several horses wait to convey the spectators to their next stop.
