This photograph of Bonnie Logan Hensley and Hayden Hensley sitting next to a box of carving blanks and carving small animals was taken by Doris Ulmann when she came to Brasstown, N.C. in 1933 or 1934. The Hensleys were some of the first woodcarvers at the John C. Campbell Folk School participating in the cooperative that later came to be known as the Brasstown Carvers.
