Description

This slat-back chair features a rush seat, cones on top of the two uprights, eight stretchers, and five horizontal banisters. The chair was made circa 1910 by Shadrach Birdic 'Birdie" Mace, 1892-1937, of Madison County, North Carolina. Mace, a third generation chair-maker, usually signed his name S.B. Mace, and was also known as Shadrick Mace, Birdie Mace, and Birdic Mace.
