Description
This ladder-back cherry slipper chair, has a rope rush seat, six stretchers (two on each side) and two horizontal banisters. The chair was made ca. 1910 by Shadrach Birdic "Birdie" Mace, 1892-1973, of Madison County, North Carolina. Mace, a third generation chair-maker, usually signed his name S.B. Mace, and was also known as Shadrick Mace, Birdie Mace, and Birdic Mace.
