Woven blanket: cotton and wool
Dublin Core
Title
Woven blanket: cotton and wool
Description
This handwoven blanket of cotton and wool is a natural color and consists of two 30" wide strips sewn together. The blanket does have several large holes and tears with some mended. This blanket is attributed to the family of William Allen Dills and his wife, Alice Minerva Enloe. Although the maker is unknown, the piece probably descended through either the Dills family of Jackson County or the Enloe family of Swain County. William A Dills married Alice M. Enloe in 1876. He is recognized as the founder of Dillsboro, N.C. and the builder of a part of what is now Riverwood Shops and the Jarrett House.
