Description

This article describes numerous examples of the Craft Revival in western North Carolina. Written by Annie Creelman, it appeared in the June 1, 1923 edition of "Southern Agriculturist." The article gives an overview of the generalized interest in reviving traditional mountain crafts and how this has provided an economic help to mountain women and families. The article gives specific information on several craft production centers or shops such as Allanstand Cottage Industries of Asheville, N.C.; Mountain Industries of Tryon, N.C; Lees McRae Institute of Banner Elk, N.C.; the Crossnore Weaving Room of Avery Count, N.C.; and the Canton Wood Novelty Company of Haywood County, N.C. Also included are several photographs related to weaving and woodworking.
