Description

Although the origin of this particular quilt is unknown, this "Tulip" pattern quilt exhibits strong characteristics of mid-19th century appliqué quilts from North Carolina in the pattern blocks, the colors, and the triple strip borders set with small pieced blocks at the intersections. The quilt is hand pieced and quilted in a Rope and Ocean Wave pattern using white thread. Evidence of cotton batting is notable through frayed areas in several of the pattern blocks.
