Description

This photograph depicts a handmade piggin, which is a small wooden pail or tub with an upright stave for a handle and is often used as a dipper. Notes on the back of the photograph read "Aunt Judy's Milk Piggin - This was given me by Aunt Judy & it was smooth & worn from use at the 'milk gap-' F. L. Goodrich." Frances Goodrich collected numerous Appalachian craft items, her object collection was donated to the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild.
