Description

This photograph features an arrangement of craft items and was taken by John Jacob Niles, in the 1930s. Niles (1892-1980) accompanied and assisted Doris Ulmann on her photography trips through Appalachia. Niles is most known as a composer, singer and collector of traditional ballads. He also played and handcrafted traditional musical instruments.
